Fuel Oil Additives

Today's users of fuel oil have an increased awareness of the need to achieve maximum efficiency of fuel oil use, to meet community pollution control standards, and to reduce costly maintenance, cleanouts, downtime, and equipment replacements.

Fuel Oil Additive System

is a group of formulated products which help meet these needs:

  • Reduce corrosion
  • Disperse sludge
  • Reduce clogging of lines, strainer, and nozzles
  • Prevent soot build-up
  • Reduce firebox slag and other deposits
  • Increase combustion efficiency
  • Improve fuel stability
  • Help control emissions
  • Control water and condensation in fuel
  • Provide viscosity control
  • Reduce maintenance costs
  • Help clean dirty systems
BFA I - Multifunctional Storage Tank/Firebox Treatment

BFA I is a combination of concentrated compounds specifically designed for the use in fuel systems where problems exist both in the storage tank and at the fireside. BFA I combines an effective combustion catalyst system with the dispersion/ corrosion control properties of BFA II. It contains emulsifying agents and solvents that protect boiler tubes and refractory brickwork by de-activating the vanadium oxides and sodium salts that deposit on boiler tubes and walls. BFA I reduces the time required for cleaning and extends periods between shutdowns. Burner nozzle and heat transfer suplaces are kept clean for greater heat (BTU) utilization, more efficient combustion, and reduced maintenance costs. Fuel oil treated with BFA I formulation burns cleaner and more completely, thereby reducing emission problems associated with particulates, sulfur dioxide, and sulfur trioxide.

BFA II - Corrosion Inhibitor and Dispersant Concentrate

BFA II reduces the viscosity of residual fuel oils and has a fluidizing effect at all temperatures, which provides more uniform and faster pumping. Sludge that typically clogs fuel strainers, nozzles, preheaters, and lines is dispersed throughout the fuel. BFA II makes the organic/ inorganic deposits in the fuel and at the burners more friable. BFA II forms a protective film on internal surfaces of storage tanks and piping, which reduces corrosion and deposit build-up. Stratification in tanks of poorly blended fuels, or contaminated fuels, is prevented by the stabilizing effect of additives formulated with BFA II. It also provides protection against cold-end and stack corrosion.

BFA III - For Severe Sludge Problems

BFA III is for severe sludge problems or when line clogging exists. It prevents further sludge formations, with minimal varnish and gum information. It also maintains uniformity and reduces maintenance cost.
