More Effective at Controlling Biofilm

BIOGARD 800 biocide is much more effective than the most conventional biocides at controlling biofilm, the thin layers of bacteria and slime that attach to water system surfaces.

Biofilm can be costly and dangerous. It compromises system performance by decreasing heat exchanger efficiency, increasing metal corrosion and pitting, and fouling film fills. Worse still, biofilm can provide a food source for protozoa and other single-cell organisms that function essentially as bioamplifiers for Legionella pneumophila, the bacterial organism responsible for Legionnaire's disease.

(Left) Conventional oxidizers degrade inhibitors, leading to corrosion, pitting and increased biofouling of parts, such as heat exchanger bundles.

(Right) STABROM 909 biocide allows scale and corrosion inhibitors to do their jobs more effectively.

Control of biofilm means more efficient and safer operation of water systems, which is exaxtly what BIOGARD 800 biocide was designed to do. It's stabilization technology allows the product to generate deep into the biofilm, beyond the protective outer slime layer, causing parts of the biofilm to slough or break way.

Industrial and commercial cooling systems will benefit from less product waste, lower energy costs, and water consumption, less vapor-phase corrosion and extended equipment life.

BIOGARD 800 BIOCIDE PENETRATES AND REMOVES BIOFILM

This sloughing action eradicates both the biofilm and its bacteria and leads to cleaner system surfaces than you'll get with conventional biocides. BIOGARD 800 biocide's stabilization technology minimizes reactivity with system additives such as scale and corrosiion inhibitors, allowing those componenets to do their job more effectively. In fact, BIOGARD 800 biocide causes very little degradation of common inhibitors, unlike chlorine or bromine

BIOGARD 800 BIOCIDE IS MORE COMPATABILE WITH SCALE AND CORROSION INHIBITORS

BIOGARD 800 biocide is also less reactive to system contaminants such as organics, dead bacteria, nitrogen-containing compounds and wood preservatives. It simply does not suffer from high-demand factors as traditional oxidizing biocides do. In pilot cases, unstabilized bromine dropped below 1ppm halogen in less than two hours after the slug dose, while BIOGARD 800 biocide's residual lasted more than five hours. The result is longer lasting residuals and stronger biocidal activity to control bacteria and biofilm.

BIOGARD 800 BIOCIDE RESIDUALS LAST LONGER

Cleaner surfaces, improved heat transfer and inhibitor performance, and fewer system upsets. It all adds up to lower total system cost with BIOGARD 800 biocide.
